Centro Maya Project is a humanitarian and social justice outreach centered in San Juan La Laguna, Sololá, Guatemala. The project makes a difference in the lives of rural indigenous Mayan people living in Guatemala’s western highlands by supporting education and the dignity of work, offering food assistance, and connecting people to life-saving and life-changing medical care with a special emphasis on helping deaf and hearing impaired persons get tested and fitted for hearing aids and devices.

EMERGENCY FOOD NEED IN SAN JUAN
Covid-19 has severely impacted the tourist driven economy in San Juan and the mountain villages. Every month we distribute food assistance to 43 families. In April, the number of families increased to 87. In May we provided food for 100 families, at least 500 people. The cost to feed a family is $40. Our cost in May was over $4000. Every family is given corn, beans, rice, eggs, salt, powdered milk, fresh vegetables, soap, hand sanitizer and toothpaste. Recently 8 people tested positive for the virus. Food prices and availability is at a critical point. Food scarcity is real. The food we provide is necessary for subsistence. Centro Maya Project is committed to feeding 100 families for as many months as we can. We need your help! Please make a donation now. 100% of all donations will be used to feed families. Thank you.  Jeanne Nakamaru
