Our education program began in 2007 with a simple yet powerful vision: To help children begin their education in elementary school and continue financial support through high school graduation. Scholarship students receive individualized school supplies and uniforms as well as paid registration fees and annual tuitions. Today more than 60 youth have graduated. One third of the graduates are young women.
Due to affordability issues, many students drop out two years prior to graduation. These last two years require additional fees to meet graduation requirements. Our education program has been able to aid these students in financial need. Each graduation provides opportunities not only for the individual student, but often for the entire family.
Over time we realized that successful students come from classroom environments where teachers are also supported. Our program also provides teachers with learning materials and office supplies, making learning spaces more engaging and effective.
Celebrating recent successes:
This year Oliver Roberto will begin studying at the high school level. He continues to practice his English by conducting coffee tours for foreign visitors. His educational goal is obtaining a bachelor’s degree in tourism.
A recent graduate, Nidia Edilma’s focus her last two years was on graphic design and medicine. Her dream is to attend college and become a teacher specializing in learning disabilities.
Yésica Paola De Leon Caxaj is in her second year of middle school. She loves to study, make bracelets and participate in the youth group at her church.
