PO Box 263Food assistance is our largest program. It began with a request from a mother for a can of powdered milk and a box of cheerios. We continue to help struggling families in San Juan, San Pablo and Aldeas Palestina, Panyebar, and Pasajquim. Our program constantly changes to accommodate more families.
We recognize the importance of nutrition for healthy development. Now 300 families receive food assistance every three months. Before each food distribution changes are made based on need. We prioritize those with sick family members, economic difficulties, children with disabilities, elderly people, single mothers, widows and children living with grandparents.
Each family receives corn, beans, eggs, rice, Incaparina (nutritional supplement), sugar, pasta, salt, oil and some vegetables purchased from local growers. Volunteers from the community and Spanish School students help with the distribution. Monthly costs exceed $2,200.
