PO Box 263Health Is essential to a person’s quality of life. However, in communities like San Juan, public services are inadequate. The Department of Public Health cannot meet the minimum needs of the community. Centro Maya Project’s health care program provides some assistance. We arrange consultations with private physicians, pay for prescription medications and facilitate therapies (e.g., speech, physical, and occupational).
To bring medications to San Juan we work with Blessings International, benefitting from their lower prescription costs. We provide economic and transportation assistance for patients needing chemotherapy and other appointments in Guatemala City. Additionally, we give financial assistance to the Volunteer Fire Department to cover fuel costs for the ambulance used to transport sick people to nearby hospitals. We coordinate our services with those provided by Clinica San Juanerita.
